Ministry to Africans in Canada
MAC is about helping Africans in Canada live life to the full. Especially as they personally connect with their Creator. Canada’s African population is now a million strong. They are making huge contributions in the areas of health care, communications, education, IT… in fact, just about every area of community life. But adjusting to a different country can be hard.
Everything is so different—and our extreme climate is just the beginning. Housing, language, laws, schooling & homework, and even family life can be poles apart from “home”. We in MAC want every African and every New Canadian to feel at home in this great country… and thrive!
John & Jennifer Brown
MAC (Ministry to Africans in Canada) was founded in 2016 by John & Jennifer Brown after twenty years leading medical, educational and spiritual services to the people of Africa on their home continent. In the last six years the Browns became increasingly aware of the growing African population right here in Canada.
di·as·po·ra the dispersion of any people from their original homeland
Bringing the Good News of Jesus to Africa’s hardest to reach people does not always mean a move to Africa. Coming from closed countries, and arriving at the church’s doorstep. Multiplying followers of Jesus among all African peoples in the diaspora. The harvest is plentiful…
A new home away from home
Many Africans arrive here after years of tumult in war-ravaged countries or after long months languishing in refugee camps. Sometimes children and teens arrive in Canada before their parents. Often they struggle with the aftereffects of violence in their homeland. Almost always they feel dislocated by a new language, new schools, and new expectations.
